It seems like a simple enough question but there’s almost no discussion about this on the internet. Has this subject been shadow banned? Why does ESPN spoil the football scores?
It’s not just ESPN, it’s any and all of the network that carries football, pro or college. In our modern age of streaming and DVR capabilities, it’s entirely puzzling to me why the major sports networks will spoil the scores and highlights for games your recording while you’re watching one live. It definitely effects the desire to watch the other games. Doesn’t this impact viewership and advertising rates?
I learned a long time ago that anytime smart people in high positions do incredibly stupid things, they’re usually way ahead of normal, honest people and they’re pulling a scam. Acting dumb is their cover story. So, what is the real reason the major networks ruin your football watching… and why is this subject suppressed from search engines?
Let me pose an example explanation. Let us say that the demographic research shows that the average viewer limits the number of hours that they are willing to watch sports. Let’s further assume that there’s a tune-out factor. If a game becomes boring, a large number of people will drop the game and drift away entirely. If the network can tease another, more exciting game while you’re losing interest in your current game, then you may switch channels to see the better game. This would have to be a demand from the game providers like the NFL of the NCAA. Why else would ABC promote a game taking place on ESPN unless the NFL forced it by contract? Whatever the reason, it ruins the football experience for true fans.
Don’t ban me, Google, I’m just asking the question.
